1 John 1:5-10
This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
I do not like driving at night. It is hard to see and read the street signs. Praise the Lord for GPS! I prefer to drive during the day with sun and clear skies. How about you?
But even on a cloudy day, the world has the brightest light of all: God! There is no evil in him; he is good. Darkness does not stain him. When you have fellowship with God, you are walking in his light. The path ahead is clear, and you follow it with joy!
In darkness, there is uncertainty, fear, and anxiousness. You cannot see the path ahead, filled with dangers that hide in the darkness, waiting to pull you away from enjoying God.
Christians, we are called to walk in the light of God. How can you say you have fellowship with him if you continue to walk in your sins? We are called to be holy because God is holy. And this is only possible because of the blood of Jesus Christ. This is great news, because he has forgiven us our sins and cleansed us from all unrighteousness.
All. That means when Christ cleanses you, there is no stain left. There is no cleaning solution that can compare to the blood of Christ.
This is the good news we have in the gospel. Stop walking in the dark paths of the world and embrace the light of Christ! Fellowship with others who walk in the light produces good things. Fellowship with those walking in darkness produces chaos.
You cannot see in the dark, so choose to live in the light of Christ!
