2 Peter 1:3-4

His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desires.

Do you ever have doubts? Perhaps you have doubts about the weather, your future, and the outcome of today’s ballgame.

But have you ever doubted your faith? Have you questioned if you have lost your salvation?

This is a common question Christians struggle with, but it is one we should have the most certainty about! In today’s passage, Peter reminds us that it is through God’s divine power that we have eternal life. It is not by your good works or your good looks! It is by the divine knowledge and power of God who has called you “to his own glory and excellence.” Because salvation does not rely on us, we have assurance through what God has ordained to be right. You cannot lose this gift of faith.

But what about a heinous sin? Can you sin so grievously that you are beyond saving? Never! When God’s divine grace is given, a seal is placed upon your heart for all eternity. The blood of Christ was spilled once for your sins, past and future. No sin will cast you away from God’s hand of mercy. That is why Christ died, so you don’t have to.

This is great news!

As you seek God today, pray that he will assure you in your faith in him. You will sin, but answer it with repentance, not doubt. Trust in the mighty work of redemption we have through Christ.
