1 Peter 5:6-7 

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.” 

Humility. Probably a word that is taught to children and left aside for adults. But humility is more than a word; it is a virtue. A humble person is teachable and trainable. A humble person sees others as more significant than themselves. A humble person looks for what is best for the whole, and not for their own interests.  

Humility is a godly virtue as we seek to follow the Lord God rather than our own hearts and desires. Christians should practice humility to follow Christ well. 

Thus, humility brings exaltation from God.  

Peter points out that humility brings eternal blessing. Those who follow Christ will be exalted because of their faith in him.  

Therefore, we can cast our anxieties on him because “he cares for you.” God loves and cares for you; therefore, he gives you peace during the storm. But how often do you cry out to him during trial and temptation? We cannot overcome anything in this world without the help and direction of God.  

So when you are anxious and stressed, seek the Lord’s help, “because he cares for you.” Do not seek out your own way, but seek the Lord’s way because it is good and helpful for your soul.
